How SIL is funded

Supported Independent Living and short-term accommodation are funded through the NDIS for participants who need them. If SIL isn't in your plan yet, we can explain how it works and how to ask the NDIA for it. SIL pays for your support, not your rent or living costs. Rent and board are paid separately, and some participants also have Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding for the home itself.

How it works

Getting started is simple.

  1. We listen

Tell us what you need and what matters to you, and we'll set a meeting with our service delivery manager.

  2. Build your plan

With you, we strategise and mark down your goals, then agree on times and the team who'll support you.

  3. Meet your team

We begin slowly introducing you to your conscientious team that you can trust and depend on.

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
SIL is NDIS funding for help with, or supervision of, daily tasks in your home, such as personal care, cooking and household jobs. It's for people with higher support needs who need help at home for much of the day. SIL pays for support, not rent or the home itself.
What's the difference between SIL and short-term accommodation?
SIL is ongoing support in the place you live. Short-term accommodation (STA) is a short stay away from home, often used for respite or to try something new.
Do I have to live in shared housing?
Not necessarily. SIL can be delivered in a shared home or where you live on your own, depending on your needs and your plan.
Which areas do you cover?
We support people across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Moreton Bay, from our office in Indooroopilly.
